There is always work to be done on site at the SPCA Animal Centre, from cleaning cages and feeding cats, to walking dogs and doing laundry. We rely on the help of wonderful volunteers to help us with the day-to-day jobs. If you are over 16 years of age and interested in assisting, please contact our office to enquire about volunteering for us on a regular basis.
Volunteers are asked to commit to a regular shift each week if possible. It is important that volunteers do come regularly as we are reliant on this help to create a reliable roster and meet the needs of the centre.
Our regular shifts are:
- Morning cat cleaning and feeding 9am – 12pm;
- Afternoon cat cleaning and feeding 2.30pm – 5pm;
- Morning dog cleaning and feeding 9am – 12pm;
- Afternoon dog cleaning and feeding 2.30pm – 5pm;
- Dog walking - mornings: 10.30am – 12.30pm; and afternoons: 2.30pm - 3.30pm(except Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays)
Some of our shifts may be full, so we will discuss opportunities with you upon application. Please allow a week or so for applications to be processed.
If you are unable to commit to a regular day every week but you would still like to see the animals, you are welcome to drop into the centre as a visitor anytime.

Have you heard of the SPCA Dog Squad? If you have a few hours spare during the day and have a dog that enjoys people and cuddles, you may like to join the Dog Squad and help out with hospital and rest home visits.
